High School: Express Your Opinion & ALWAYS Trust This One Thing...

What must you really do in order to prepare yourself for the "big, vast and scary" world after school? Trust your intuition and express it whenever possible. How and why you should do this:

Let's start with this: I want you to know that I hated high school... Why? Because all I could ever think about was my hobbies and passions: Things such as badminton, DJ'ing, gaming and hanging out with my friends. I didn't have any interest in subjects such as History, Physics and Modern Studies. I was a pain in the neck to most of my teachers and simply put, didn't give a rats ass about subjects I felt would not benefit me in anyway what so ever when the time would come to leave school. Keep in mind, that I this is my own experience and opinions differ from person to person, I knew many people that enjoyed school, so do not think I am telling you not to go and it is of no benefit. School can be the best of things if you have an interest in what they are teaching you.

I wanted to let you know, that I do not vote, nor do I follow politics, therefore Modern Studies was a waste of my time, I do not have any interest in History what so ever, nor did I have any interest in Geography. In return, this didn't leave me with much choice, due to  one of these 3 subjects being mandatory to pick in order to fill up timetables. I also have never put to use any of the things that I was taught in Physics or Religious Education. As I became older, I put in less effort into my classes. The only one I did very well in was English, and yes, I do use what I learned in those numerous classes in my daily tasks...

To save me rambling on here... The key question is Did These Choices Come Back And Bite Me? No. Of course, it would be a different story if I actually enjoyed the subjects I was taught in high school, but that wasn't the case. This blog post is for you guys out there, that feel as if School is wasting your time. School isn't for everyone.

What I was Told By Most Of My Teachers: (CRUCIAL!!)

If I don't sit down and do as I am told, I will suffer the punishment of detention or a trip to the headteacher, not to mention being shamed by the teacher, resulting in being shamed by other pupils in my class. Teachers tried to make me polite, nice, and respectful towards every individual in life. In other words, what most of the teachers were trying to tell me (maybe without realising), was that in actual fact, my opinion only matters when he or she says so, because he or she is the teacher and I was the naive and inferior pupil. The teacher lived his or her life through a pre-established role given to them by society which caused them to identify with this job role, making it a false sense of who they really were. For some teachers, they no longer saw themselves as a human being teaching a subject to another human being. They were now the Teacher teaching the Pupil, causing superiority and power to arise. Did you realise, that the teachers you get along with very well are the ones that treat you equal to them and as a friend? It's simple! If somebody stood up and disagreed with a lesson and argued their point, they were, in most cases, not treated as an equal. But the big picture, was, you were taught that you should just sit down and shut up, along with being made to realise, that when it came to you vs your teacher: You were just an inferior, little boy or girl who shouldn't have any right to speak up as to how you felt about something in your class, unless given the option to do so for a brief 60 seconds by someone that isn't your gut feeling, someone that isn't you! How can someone that isn't you give a prediction on your own intuition and intelligence and get to decide whether YOUR intelligence is right or wrong? Only you can know, and this is what being unique is all about - sharing your opinion and view, along with your intelligence, with full right not to be judged by the other half. And how can the teacher expect to hammer in the life lesson of "respect" into your head if they do not respect You to begin with?

I am sure, by this point, you are thinking "wow, is he telling me that I should go against the system and get kicked out of school?" No. I am simply telling you, that when you feel it is right, ALWAYS and FULLY trust your intuition and speak your mind when it feels appropriate. Not just for the sake of school and your classes, but for the sake of becoming a stronger, assertive and an all-round enthusiastic person in later life that is successful in achieving his or her's goals and passions.

If you can begin to realise that it is okay to trust your own intuition and that you are able to express yourself without carrying the burden of what other people think, you will be far less likely to leave school with scarcity and the fear of what the real world thinks of your actions and ambitions, thus allowing you to not only feel more comfortable in trusting your own intuition, but you will also feel that only you matter when it comes to following the paths and choices you may choose to follow throughout your life. You may fail and make mistakes at times, but just know that as long as you learn from your mistakes, they no longer can be seen as this. In the end, how can the mistakes you make really be mistakes, if you take up the courage to learn from them?
